April 27, 2019 – “Governing of a Town and County” Historic Tuscumbia Free Walking Tour, Cold Water Books, 101 W. 6th St., Tuscumbia. Participants will walk through the town and today’s tour will be on the people who began the early governance and the buildings that made contributions to the city and county’s establishment of its government. Commentary will be provided on these topics and there will be an opportunity to tour the Colbert County Courthouse where stories will be shared about early leaders as well as the various architecture of the courthouse from the beginning in the 1880s and continue through each addition to the building (through the 1970s). Tour will be led by local historian John McWilliams. This is the 1st of 4 April Walking Tours that will begin at 10 a.m. each Saturday morning. Handouts will be provided each Saturday.
